Overview #
WordPress, themes, and plugins release updates constantly: for new features and, critically, security fixes. Xponent manages updates across your entire fleet so your site stays current, compatible, and secure without you lifting a finger.
The Update Process #
- Monitoring: we track update availability across all managed sites.
- Testing: updates are checked against the Xponent Stack for compatibility before applying.
- Staged rollout: updates apply on a controlled schedule, not the moment they drop.
- Verification: after updates, we confirm the site still works (pages load, forms submit, no errors).
- Backups first: automated backups run before update batches, so any issue is instantly reversible.
What You Should Know #
- Don’t update plugins yourself unless we’ve asked you to: a manual update can conflict with our managed schedule and testing.
- If a plugin must be updated urgently (e.g., a security notice), we do it immediately and verify.
- “Why did my site change?”: updates rarely change visible behavior. If something looks different after an update, tell us; we can roll back.
