Backups & Restores

1 min read

Overview #

Every Xponent site is backed up automatically. If anything goes wrong (a bad update, an accident, or a security incident) we can restore your site to a known-good state.

The Xponent Backup Standard #

Item Standard
Schedule Automated daily backups (more frequent on the higher tiers)
What’s included Full site: database, files, uploads, plugins
Verification Backups are tested after creation to confirm they restore cleanly
Retention Kept for a rolling window on all plans; longer retention on the higher tiers

Requesting a Restore #

  1. Contact support via email or your plan’s channel.
  2. Tell us: what happened, when it happened, and what you need restored (whole site, or a specific page/change).
  3. We restore from the nearest valid backup and verify the site works before confirming with you.

What Restores Do NOT Cover #

  • Content created after the backup: a restore rolls the site back to the backup time. Anything newer is lost unless we can recover it separately.
  • Third-party services: data in external tools (payment gateways, email platforms) lives in their systems, not your backups.

Best Practice #

For major changes (big launches, migrations), tell us in advance: we’ll take a manual verified backup first so you have a clean restore point.
