Analytics, Tracking & Cookie Consent

Overview #

Understanding your visitors (where they come from and what they do) is essential to growing your site. But tracking tools must respect visitor privacy, especially under GDPR. This article covers how tracking and consent work on Xponent sites.

What We Recommend #

Tool Purpose Plan
Google Analytics / GA4 Core visitor statistics: only if you opt into tracking Configured on request
GetTerms Privacy policy & terms generator All plans: unlimited Xponent licenses
iubenda Cookie consent banner & compliance (for sites that run trackers) Reserved for the higher tiers (licensed seats are limited)
FluentCRM tracking Email campaign analytics Where available on your plan

Consent & Privacy #

We default to no third-party tracking. Your choice is whether your site tracks at all: and when it does, we make it compliant.

  • If your site runs non-essential trackers (marketing pixels, third-party analytics, ad scripts), European visitors must be asked for consent before those scripts load. We configure the consent tool (iubenda where it’s included on your plan, GetTerms or your preferred tool elsewhere) to gate them.
  • Cookie-free sites need no consent banner. A site with no non-essential cookies (self-hosted or cookieless analytics, no ad pixels) has nothing to consent to. We default to this setup unless you explicitly ask for tracking.
  • GetTerms covers your privacy policy and terms of use on every plan: we generate and install these for you at no extra cost.
  • iubenda adds the full consent-banner layer (cookie declarations, consent management) for sites that run trackers on the plans where its licensed seats are included: see your Care Plan.
  • We handle the technical setup; you are responsible for keeping the policy content accurate for your actual data practices, and for any data-processing agreements with the tools you use.
  • Tracking scripts that load without consent are a compliance risk: if you’re unsure whether yours is compliant, ask us to audit it.

Adding Tracking to Your Site #

  1. Create your account with the tracking provider (e.g., Google Analytics).
  2. Send us the tracking ID or script tag via support (or request it through Xvault if it’s a stack tool).
  3. We install it correctly: consent-gated, cached correctly, and not hurting your Core Web Vitals.
